As we welcome the new year, we are pleased to share highlights from a meaningful Christmas celebration held in Cameroon under the theme “Biodiversity Celebrates Christmas.” The activities combined conservation education, outdoor exploration, and community engagement, creating memorable experiences for children and families.
The celebration included three main activities, each designed to raise awareness about biodiversity while encouraging learning through participation.
Conservation Awareness at Bonintsing Primary School
The first activity took place at Bonintsing Primary School, where parents and students participated in awareness sessions focused on biodiversity and conservation. These discussions highlighted the importance of protecting local ecosystems and wildlife, helping families better understand the value of environmental stewardship.

Forest Discovery Experience near Mbakaou
The second activity involved a guided discovery of a small forest near Mbakaou, where children had the opportunity to explore nature firsthand. This experience fostered curiosity and appreciation for local biodiversity while reinforcing conservation messages in a natural setting.

Christmas Gathering at the Wildlife Center
The final activity was a Christmas gathering held at the wildlife center, featuring entertainment and the distribution of gifts to children associated with MWEC. The event brought together the holiday spirit and environmental awareness, offering a joyful and educational experience for the children.

These activities reflect ongoing efforts to promote biodiversity conservation and environmental education through community-based initiatives in Cameroon.
As we begin the new year, we wish everyone a happy, healthy, and hopeful year ahead.
